Join us for 50th anniversary celebrations at ALIA

Emerald Publishing will be exhibiting on Stand 33 at ALIA Information Online in Sydney, Australia, 13-17 February 2017, and using the opportunity to both celebrate Emerald’s 50th anniversary and introduce an exciting new product to the market.

ALIA Information Online Conference is one of the most important annual events in the information professional’s calendar. The conference has been held since 1990 and attracts over 1,000 influential professionals – from Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific, and beyond – from all sectors of the library industry.

Cake and drinks!

Reaching our 50th anniversary is the combined achievement of many who have worked for and alongside Emerald over the years, including, of course, those who write, read and use the research we publish. We take great pleasure in thanking them – and you – for the part played in our continuing story.

To celebrate our 50th anniversary, we’ve launched a new website – emeraldat50.com – and book dedicated to our anniversary, charting Emerald’s journey from 1967 to this day. The website also allows you to access, for free, 50 of the most impactful articles that we have published during our history.

We’re asking ALIA attendees to join us for cake and drinks on Stand 33 at 4pm on Tuesday 14 February to help us celebrate 50 years of bringing research to life and nurturing fresh thinking in academic publishing.

We will be hosting celebration events of this kind with our international communities at similar events throughout the year, so if you can’t make it this one, we hope to see you at another!

Introducing the Emerald eCase Collection

In addition to our celebrations, Steve Lodge, Senior Product Manager at Emerald, will be talking about the Case Method in the Grand Ballroom from 12.37pm-12.47pm on Wednesday 15 February.

The Case Method has been a firmly established teaching method for decades. For business schools in particular, they are widely used across MBA programmes globally, and students can often read hundreds of case studies over the duration of their MBA course. Most business textbooks will also contain case studies of varying length and across a broad range of subject disciplines.

Emerald has published case studies for teaching since 2011 and aims to continue to develop case study products to help educators deliver an enhanced student experience.

Steve will be using this opportunity to talk about the extensive user research we’ve undertaken at Emerald that suggests that many in our communities are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with some of the traditional cases purchasing models by which users get access to case materials. Many are seeking alternative methods of access to make the process of both selecting and purchasing content more quickly, and more cost-effective. Steve will also demonstrate how there is also a growing demand among institutions for support in publishing their own case material, while established business schools are seeking to better disseminate their content across a global audience.

In response to this user research, we’ve created the Emerald eCase Collection. New for 2017, our eCase Collection is a comprehensive digital library that incorporates case studies from two of the world’s most highly regarded business schools, the Kellogg School of Management and Darden School of Business. The collection is enhanced by high-quality content from Emerald’s established case study products, which now include instant access to teaching notes for institutional faculty members.

Join Steve and the team to learn more.

Whether you can make it to our cake and drinks celebrations, Steve’s cases talk or just to our stand to say hello, it will be great to see as many as possible of you at ALIA!
