On 18 April, Emerald Publishing will be holding the annual event for Emerald’s Malaysian librarian community, hosted by Head of Publishing, Meloney Bartlett, Regional Manager Wan Yat Seng, and Business Manager, Elvin Cheah.
The theme of this year’s event is “Open access and the future of libraries”, which will cover a variety of topics, including: product development, services and updates, delivered by Elvin; open access in action, delivered by Meloney; a knowledge sharing session; and a discussion around the future of libraries, gathering usage perspectives direct from users.
Attendees will be invited to discuss current issues related to librarianship; the needs of librarians, faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate students – just how do these users search for research in 2017?
We’ll be collecting feedback on your experiences. What are your needs and thoughts with regards to the future of libraries, are libraries still relevant, and how are they evolving?
Emerald Publishing Services
We’ll also highlight the benefits of Emerald Publishing Services (EPS) – a third party publishing programme for research dissemination.
Through a variety of services which include electronic production, editorial consultancy and bespoke marketing campaigns, EPS converts peer-reviewed papers into professional publications both in print and online. All partner journals are hosted on Emerald’s dedicated research platform, emeraldinsight.com, and all articles are published Open Access, allowing for unlimited accessibility.
With 16 agreements signed globally, including institutions in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Taiwan, we’ll be explaining all the advantages EPS can bring to your library, authors and users.
Celebrating 50 years of Emerald Publishing
Since 1967, Emerald Publishing has believed in nurturing fresh thinking and publishing research that drives broader outcomes and greater impact. Over the past 50 years, we’ve helped thousands of people to translate theory into reality and champion the thinkers whose new – and specialist – ideas make a difference to the real world.
During the conference, we’d like to celebrate our 50th anniversary with you and will be hosting traditional English afternoon tea, during which presentations will be made to representatives from Universiti Teknologi MARA; Universiti Utara Malaysia; SEGi International Bhd; and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia – the Malaysian winners of the 2016 Emerald High Usage Awards, and the winners of the High Research Output Award.
We look forward to welcoming everyone to the event, which promises to be a very enjoyable occasion.
